Deborah Hay Dance Company: In Conversation with Deborah Hay

In celebration of Hay’s archive recently coming to the Ransom Center, join Hay and her archival collaborator, Laurent Pichaud, for a conversation about what it means to document dance.

About my work:

To survive as a dancer with less and less physical attributes to rely on, I experiment by applying different lenses to how I see while dancing. This supports my body’s potential to engage dynamically with resources outside of myself for inspiration and authorship. After years of incrementally increasing the field from which to unravel this dance, I find a cosmic joke, unfathomable yet unequivocally life-affirming. How I may see our universe, acknowledging its infinitude as I dance, is my survival.
